August 21, 2010 Trailer Draft #1
Dundundun crammed my first attempt at a stop-motion trailer and it ended up too cute (Again, I stress my need for time management) but I guess it’s not too shabby for a first try,

August 13, 2010 Obligatory Progress Update #3: Of Interviews and the Filipino Language
I have successfully emailed my requests to interviewees whom I won’t be able to meet in person and called the offices and homes of those I could. I’m still waiting for most of the replies of most of them but I’m having my first ever phone interview with a health center doctor later–I would’ve preferred visiting the community where she worked but her working hours conflict with my schedule. Wish me luck!

Also my thesis is going to be in Filipino, that’s right folks, I am shivering as I type. Not that I don’t want to but I find it exceeding difficult to write well in Filipino (I cringed after I reread the papers I wrote back in FIL11 and FIL12). Everything seems to end up barok.

July 28, 2010 Obligatory Progress Update #2: Paper and Presentation
I think I skipped through half of the “speech” that I outlined for my presentation–the flow of which even confused myself. But I guess this is what happens if you pull an all-nighter cramming the whole paper/presentation combo the evening before the presentation proper. This is one heck of a wake up call; i need to start managing my time wisely. Then again, I might not. Bad habits are really hard to break.
On a lighter note, I got some interesting feedback from the presentation:
1. Regarding the language barrier/issue:
- I don’t think the Tagalog/Filipino approach is workable given the amount of scientific terms related to the reproductive health education (I’ve also spoken to a few people in the medical community and apparently, there’s no official list of Filipino word counterparts for the parts of the reproductive system) . Besides the reproductive system have already been discussed in subjects (Science and MAPEH) of both private and public schools with English as the medium of instruction.
2. Storybook stereotype
- I’m still thinking about this but it would be good to have a nice flow throughout the book. Thank you Tata!
3. I have to rethink the specifics of my target market to provide a more accurate test in order to determine if my thesis succeeds in fulfilling its goal or not. And also to be able to provide a more foolproof defense.
